Award-winning Nigerian Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has stirred online conversations after revealing she wouldn’t mind becoming a second wife — as long as there’s mutual respect and consent from the first wife.

“I don’t know… maybe I can be a second wife. I could be a second wife,” Tiwa said in a recent chat. “If I get like a 50-year-old man who’s already married, I think I can be. I would, however, need to get consent from the first wife. But she would be assured of my respect… besides, I wouldn’t be there to disturb her all the time.”

The Somebody’s Son hitmaker admitted her opinion might not sit well with many, adding, “I know this will rub many women the wrong way and cause some controversy, but that’s me.”

Tiwa Savage, often regarded as the “Queen of Afrobeats,” was previously married to her former manager Tunji ‘Tee Billz’ Balogun. The two tied the knot in 2013 in a glamorous ceremony that captured headlines across Nigeria’s entertainment scene. However, their marriage fell apart in 2016 after a highly publicized fallout that involved accusations of infidelity and emotional distress.

Since then, the mother of one has remained single, focusing on her music career while raising her son, Jamil. Over the years, Tiwa has been romantically linked to a few public figures, including fellow superstar Wizkid, though neither ever confirmed a relationship.

The songbird has over the years become recognized for her unapologetic statements which usually shake the status quo.
