• Ykee Benda criticizes Eddy Kenzo for launching the Museveni Campaign Album under UNMF.
  • Says the move sidelined other musicians and served personal financial interests.
  • Maintains he will stay away from politics during the campaign season.

Singer Ykee Benda has criticized fellow artist Eddy Kenzo over the recently launched President Museveni Campaign Album.

Kenzo, who heads the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), unveiled the project last month at Speke Resort Munyonyo alongside a group of selected musicians, in the presence of President Museveni.

According to Ykee Benda, it was wrong for the BET Award winner to launch the project under the Federation, saying it has alienated other musicians who were not involved.

The Mpaka Records boss argued that Kenzo should have launched it as a personal project and included whichever artists he wished, instead of using the Federation’s name.

Ykee Benda further claimed that the initiative was clearly a money-making project, accusing Kenzo of misusing the Federation to pursue personal gain — a trend he says is not new among artists seeking presidential favor.

Ykee Benda is one of the artists who have so far has so far distanced themselves from political involvement during the ongoing campaign season.
