According to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) online ticket purchases have been limited to just three per person. The move is apparently aimed at curbing ticket fraud and also preventing bulk buying for resale at inflated prices.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Education and Sports and the CHAN Tournament Local Organising Committee, Dennis Mugimba, emphasized the importance of following official channels while buying these tickets.

“These tickets are only available online. CAF has not availed any physical ticket for CHAN 2024 since March 1. Therefore, if you’re buying a physical ticket, there is a very good chance you have been duped and bought a fake or duplicate ticket,” Mugimba warned.

Furthermore, he cautioned fans against sharing their electronic tickets.

“We’ve noticed that some people, upon entering the stadium, send their digital tickets to others. This will not be allowed because you cannot enter with a duplicate ticket,” he further explained.

Meanwhile fans have been urged to remain vigilant. According to Mugimba, “Someone who is selling electronic tickets is highly likely to sell you a duplicated ticket. The ticket you have been sent electronically by someone else could be duplicate, in that the same ticket has been sold to many other people.”

Authorities have since reported a significant decrease in fans attempting to enter the stadium with duplicate tickets ever since these warnings were issued. Additionally, the ministry continues to encourage supporters to purchase tickets only through official online channels to avoid disappointment.

Fans are already in high gear and anticipation of this game against the West African giants. Tickets are already on sale and Ugandans will be hoping to see their team pull off another thriller like they did against South Africa in the game that earned them qualification to the QF.
