President Museveni

This exciting announcement was made by the FUFA President Hon. Moses Magogo, who relayed the message directly to the national team.

“The President has set the bar high! He has pledged a winning bonus of Shs 1.2 billion per match for the team at CHAN 2024! The bar has been set. It is Our Game, It is Our Country,” a post on the official FUFA social media platforms reads.

Apparently, this bonus is expected to boost morale and performance among the Cranes players.
who are representing the country in a tournament that features only players who play in their local leagues.

This show of financial support is seen just not as the President’s boost to the national team but as part of his bigger plan to promote local talent and also elevate Uganda’s football status on the African continent.

CHAN 2024 is currently underway, and Uganda is among the 18 nations competing for continental glory. This tournament is being hosted by three East African nations, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

Kenya and Tanzania both played and won their opening matches and the stage is now set for the Cranes who host Algeria at the Mandela National Stadium tonight 4th August. They will then play Guinea in 8th August followed by Niger in 11th and finally South Africa on 18th. All these games will be played at Namboole and all start at 8pm.

Therefore, with this generous pledge from the President, the Cranes have every reason to aim for the title.
